What TinkerSub does

TinkerSub helps you generate, translate, edit, and preview styled subtitles. To provide those features we process media you upload and account information you provide when you sign in.

Account data

If you sign in with Google via Supabase, we store your user id and basic account metadata needed for authentication, saved projects, and free-tier limits. We do not sell your personal information.

Media you upload

Videos and subtitle files you upload are processed on our servers (and, when configured, temporary speech-to-text workers) to create subtitles. Uploaded media is kept only as long as needed for the job, then deleted. Saved projects store subtitle text and metadata in Supabase — not your original video files.

Analytics and error monitoring

We use PostHog for product analytics (for example, which features are used) and Sentry for error monitoring and performance. These tools receive a user id when you are signed in. We do not send your email address to PostHog or Sentry by default. Session replay in Sentry masks on-screen text and blocks media to reduce the chance of capturing subtitle or video content.

Third-party processors

  • Supabase — authentication and project storage
  • xAI and Qwen Cloud — optional AI translation and speech processing
  • PostHog — product analytics
  • Sentry — errors, traces, and masked session replay
